Educational Conference under the motto “21st Century Education” to be held for the first time in Kardzhali
On June 9, 2017, the city of Kardzhali will host for the first time the Conference “Education of the 21st Century.” It will bring together not only principals, teachers and students, but also their parents, as well as representatives of educational institutions, organizations and local businesses. The main organizers of the event are NEA GERMANIKA Language Centre, St. Kliment Ohridski Primary School, Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov Secondary School of Tourism and MICC – Kardzhali. The Municipality of Kardzhali, the Regional Administration of Kardzhali, and the “Teach for Bulgaria” Foundation are also partners and supporters of the educational forum, while the three largest media outlets in Kardzhali – “Iztochni Rodopi” TV, “Nov Zhivot” newspaper and BNR – Kardzhali – will cover the event in all its stages – before, during and after the Conference.
The Conference is open to all stakeholders in the education system within the municipality. All principals and their teaching teams are invited, and for the first time representatives of the new structure – the Public Council of each school, as well as school boards – will also have the opportunity to participate. A large number of local business leaders have also been invited to take part.
The aim is to take the first step towards a qualitatively new dialogue between the school and its related structures; children and parents as the main users of educational services; the institutions responsible for education, and business as an employer. The Conference will answer the question of what quality education in the 21st century is and will provide concrete examples of innovative practices from classrooms and school communities. This will give the general public the opportunity to get directly acquainted with the best models of 21st century education, both in Bulgaria and around the world.
The Conference program includes three panels, which will be led by students. In the first one, representatives of local and central government will answer questions from parents and children. In the second, teaching teams will present innovations in education that make it interesting, fun and motivating for students and lead them to high achievements. The third module will be an exhibition of educational institutions within the municipality, where parents, students and local businesses will have the opportunity to make useful contacts, obtain direct information and exchange ideas. The aim is for everyone present to exchange experience and learn more about innovative teaching and learning methods, as well as opportunities for staff selection and training.
The organizing committee hopes and believes that the “Education of the 21st Century” Conference will help create a community of active parents and students, innovative principals and teachers on the one hand, and business and institutional partners on the other, who will work together for the success of every child. The event will be closed with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the organizers and participants of the Conference.
Participation in the Conference is by prior application, while attendance at the Exhibition is free for all residents of Kardzhali Municipality.
