ENGLISH TESTS FOR CHILDREN

The Cambridge English tests for children are a series of exams for kids learning English as a foreign language. The exams aim to check knowledge and skills in language use. The tests assess the English level of beginners aged 7-12 years. Exam materials are based on topics and activities familiar to children. The tests check the four main language skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing – to provide a complete picture of language proficiency.

The tests are offered in three levels – Starters, Movers, Flyers.

The levels Starters and Movers correspond to A1 (Breakthrough) level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

The Flyers level is the highest and corresponds to A2 (Waystage) of the CEFR. It is also the language equivalent of the KET (Key English Test).

Information about Cambridge Exams

If you want to study or work abroad, you will need a certificate proving your English proficiency. Cambridge certificates are valid for life and recognized by many universities and employers worldwide.

GENERAL ENGLISH EXAMS

Key English Test (KET)

KET corresponds to level A2 (Waystage) of the CEFR and demonstrates writing and speaking skills needed for everyday communication at a beginner level. KET has three modules: reading and writing, listening, speaking.

Preliminary English Test (PET)

PET corresponds to level B1 (Threshold) of the CEFR and proves intermediate language proficiency. PET has three modules: reading and writing, listening, speaking.

First Certificate in English (FCE)

FCE corresponds to level B2 (Vantage) of the CEFR and is recognized by many universities and businesses as proof of above-average English proficiency. FCE has five modules: reading, writing, use of English, listening, speaking.

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

CAE corresponds to level C1 (Effective Proficiency) of the CEFR and is recognized by universities in the UK and USA. This high-level exam assesses advanced communication skills. CAE has five modules: reading, writing, use of English, listening, speaking.

Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)

CPE corresponds to level C2 (Mastery) of the CEFR and is the highest level of Cambridge general English exams. CPE is recognized by universities and employers worldwide. CPE has five modules: reading, writing, use of English, listening, speaking.

BUSINESS ENGLISH CERTIFICATES (BEC)

The BEC exams are intended for learners of Business English who want to work in business fields such as marketing, finance, economics, etc., and use the language fluently. The exam assesses the ability to use business terminology, schedule meetings, handle business correspondence, and exchange information. BEC is recognized by major companies and UN organizations. There are three levels:

BEC Preliminary – for beginner to intermediate speakers, corresponds to B1 (PET).

BEC Vantage – for intermediate speakers, corresponds to B2 (FCE).

BEC Higher – for advanced speakers, corresponds to C1 (CAE).
