19 NEA GERMANIKA Students Receive Cambridge Certificates
On 21 October, Kardzhali Day, 19 students from NEA GERMANIKA received their internationally recognised Cambridge University certificates in English at Starters, Movers and Flyers levels at Central Café.
Cambridge certificates have been issued for more than 100 years and are valid indefinitely worldwide. They are recognised when applying for jobs and for admission to almost all universities in Europe and around the world.
“By giving our students the opportunity to take these exams with us, we allow them to compare their knowledge with that of their peers in Bulgaria and abroad,” said Svetla Zhelyazkova, Director of NEA GERMANIKA. She added that many children are surprised to discover that they are just as good as their peers, and in many cases even outperform children from Europe and around the world.
Svetla Zhelyazkova welcomed everyone attending the ceremony and thanked the students and their parents for their perseverance and hard work. She also expressed her gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and for the demanding task of preparing the children for this important international exam. Ms Zhelyazkova also shared that all the children who passed the exam had studied at NEA GERMANIKA Language Centre, which was a great source of pride for her and the entire team.
Svetla Zhelyazkova also spoke about the other educational services the language centre offers to the people of Kardzhali. This school year, NEA GERMANIKA continues to provide a wide range of educational services: childcare programmes, early foreign language learning, language courses for children and adults, preparation for the National External Assessment exams in Mathematics and Bulgarian Language and Literature after seventh grade, as well as preparation for university entrance exams and international examinations such as Cambridge and IELTS. Since last year, the centre has also offered translation services through its Translation Bureau.
As it does every year, NEA GERMANIKA has prepared a surprise this year too. It is a newly opened early childhood development academy located right next to Otets Paisiy Secondary School. Classes in early foreign language learning and creative workshops are already taking place there.
But the most exciting news is yet to come. At the beginning of the next school term, the plan is to launch classes using the Montessori method, initially on an experimental basis and then officially, led by a certified Montessori educator. Svetla Zhelyazkova did not wish to reveal any further details, as the project is still in the planning stage. She promised to share more information as the launch date approaches.
At the end of the ceremony, everyone enjoyed refreshments and celebrated together on this wonderful day for our city.
