Children from NEA GERMANIKA Language Centre Show Their Kindness and Generosity

Today, students from NEA GERMANIKA Language Centre, together with the centre’s manager, Svetla Zhelyazkova, brought joy to the children at the Mother and Child Home in Kardzhali. As a charitable gesture, they pinned traditional martenitsa bracelets on the children — handmade by the students over several days. Thanks to the Perfect chain of grocery stores, the little ones also received additional gifts: 50 packages of treats, a surprise that every child loves. In the unit for children without disabilities, the team at the Medical and Social Care Home in the Studen Kladenets neighbourhood looks after 18 children, ranging in age from five months to 17 years. To express their joy at welcoming their kind visitors and donors, the children put on a short celebration to mark the upcoming arrival of Baba Marta. She arrived a little early and told the children the legend of the martenitsa, singing and dancing with them. Afterwards, she handed out a traditional round loaf of bread that she had spent the entire night preparing. Unfortunately, the celebration could not take place outdoors in the courtyard, but this did not dampen the children’s joy.
“I am happy that we are now receiving donations more frequently, even outside the holiday season. Both companies and people from institutions come to help, as do members of our local community,” said Dr Yordanka Gospodinova, director of the Home.
“We will continue to be a socially responsible organisation because there is nothing better than helping when you can,” said Svetla Zhelyazkova, manager of NEA GERMANIKA, who personally handed out the packages of treats. The students made 50 martenitsa bracelets. On behalf of the entire language centre team, she expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make this campaign possible and bring happiness to the children at the Medical and Social Care Home.
“It is important for our children at the centre to learn from an early age that some children face difficult circumstances in life,” said Zhelyazkova. “At a time when it sometimes seems that humanity and kindness are disappearing, this is a valuable lesson for them. Later in life, it becomes harder to accept differences,” she added. The centre provides foreign language education to around 30 children.
