Practice shows that most parents consider this age too early to begin learning a foreign language. In fact, the earlier a child starts, the better results they will achieve in the future.
Children aged 3–6 perceive spoken language very well and have highly developed language memory. At this age, emotional and visual perception of language is strongly developed. The sound, form, and expressiveness of a word are much more important to children than its lexical meaning or grammatical value. Words attract them with their sound. Moreover, most children at this age are sociable and free from the complexes that create psychological barriers for adults when learning a foreign language as a means of communication. They are curious and strive to explore the world actively — and language naturally supports this process.
Course objectives:
At this stage, teachers pursue a dual goal: not only to provide basic knowledge of the foreign language, but also to help the child develop love for it and motivate them to continue learning.
Methodology:
Our program for children includes the development of speaking, reading, and listening skills through games and engaging activities. Watching cartoons, video materials, and listening to songs help develop listening comprehension. Reciting poems, tongue twisters, rhymes and singing songs help children master phonetic rules more easily. During the course, children begin reading short stories and fairy tales, recognizing both sounds transformed into letters and written words and sentences. Teachers use a large number of visual materials, making the learning process easier and more effective.
Format of instruction:
In NEA GERMANIKA Language Center, lessons are conducted in an engaging playful format. The duration of a lesson is 60 minutes. One hour is not too long, as children cannot sit still like adults — they recite poems, sing, draw, exercise, play, dance and much more. Our experienced teachers find an approach even to the most shy or introverted child and help them feel confident among others.
